EMPH Program Description


Course Format

The EMPH program classes are taken during week-ends and consists of a series of courses culminating to a 52 credit EMPH degree over a span of 20 months. Students will need to complete the following:

  • All core courses (unless courses are waived based on work experience)
  • Three courses from a chosen area concentration and
  • A culminating thesis project

Students with a medical background will get a course waiver on HSC 530 (Human Health and Disease). All other students without a medical background will have to take this course. Other than this, students may get a waiver on one or more core courses (maximum 9 credits) based on relevant criteria.

  • HSC-536 Global Health, Population& Development
  • HSC-537 Environmental Health & Management
  • HSC-540 Project Design& Evaluation and
  • HSC-541 Society, Culture & Public Health Nutrition
